Chairwoman of the Laws and Rules, Governmental Services Committee, Tracey A. Bartels, and Deputy Chair Kevin Roberts offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the District Attorney’s Office; and

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) has approved the application submitted by the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office for an award under the funding opportunity entitled Fiscal Year 2021, Improving Criminal Justice Responses to Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Grant Program; and

WHEREAS, the approved award amount is $500,000.00 over a four-year period, from October 1, 2021 through October 1, 2025; and

WHEREAS, the County will use this award to provide training, consulting, victim advocacy, and technology to facilitate a coordinated and centralized response to domestic violence in Ulster County, in collaboration with state and local municipalities; and

WHEREAS, the District Attorney’s Office has requested that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to enter into an agreement with OVW for the Fiscal Year 2021 for the purpose of accepting the award; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature, is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement, and any amendments thereto, with the OVW, accepting the OVW award, in the form as filed with the Clerk of Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,

and move its adoption.
