Chairwoman of the Laws and Rules, Governmental Services Committee, Tracey A. Bartels, offers the following:
WHEREAS, the Ulster County Board of Elections will incur additional expenses to protect the safety of employees, inspectors and the public while administering the 2020 Elections during the COVID-19 Pandemic; and
WHEREAS, it will be necessary for the Ulster County Board of Elections to mail absentee ballot applications to all eligible voters, purchase PPE and fund sanitizing services at poll sites, as well as respond to additional requirements to assure the safety and health of employees, inspectors, and the voters of Ulster County; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to sign grant agreements in the amount of $248,928.00, and amendments thereto, with the NYS Board of Elections to obtain Federal HAVA Cares funds to offset eligible COVID-19 expenses during the 2020 New York State Federal elections held on June 23, 2020 and November 3, 2020, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature, or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,
and move its adoption.
