Referred to: The Health, Human Services and Housing Committee (Chairman Uchitelle and Legislators Corcoran, Erner, Lopez, Nolan, Petit, and Stewart), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairman Gavaris and Legislators Cahill, Roberts, Ronk, and Walter)
Chairman of the Health, Human Services and Housing Committee, Abe Uchitelle, and Deputy Chair Craig V. Lopez offer the following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Ulster County Office for the Aging; and
WHEREAS, the New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) has notified Ulster County that funding for the 2022-2023 Federal Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) program is available in the amount of $19,202.00; and
WHEREAS, the goal of the MIPPA program is for outreach and assistance with Medicare Part D beneficiaries in rural areas, and for activities related to the promotion and distribution of information on Medicare preventative and wellness services; and
WHEREAS, the term for the MIPPA program year is September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023; and
WHEREAS, if the County’s application is approved, the funds will be used to reimburse the County for MIPPA expenditures incurred by the Ulster County Office for the Aging, for contractual costs; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the County’s Office for the Aging requests that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute the MIPPA Application, with required assurances, and any amendments, for the term beginning September 1, 2022 and ending August 31, 2023; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute the application with required assurances, and any amendments thereto, with the New York State Office for the Aging for the MIPPA program, for the term beginning September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,
and move its adoption.
