Legislator Chris Hewitt represents District 21 in the Ulster County Legislature, serving the Towns of Rochester and Wawarsing with a focus on community resilience, public safety, and sustainable local economies. As chair of the legislature’s Energy, Environment and Sustainability committee, he has sponsored and supported legislation advancing environmental stewardship, renewable energy, and strengthened public services, helping to align county policy with long-term wellbeing for residents.
Chris is the co-founder of the Hudson Valley Current, a regional complementary currency that promotes local exchange and keeps wealth circulating among small businesses, farmers, and neighbors. He also co-founded Tilda’s Kitchen & Market in Kingston, a community-inspired restaurant and gathering place that weaves together food security, culture, and alternative economics. In both his public office and entrepreneurial work, Chris centers collaboration, equity, and practical systems change that empower local people and places.
