Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Eve Walter, and Deputy Chair Heidi Haynes offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office is required to upgrade the Black Creek Equipment and Software due to the current system being outdated and some equipment obsolete, originally purchased in 2011; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office relies on Black Creek Systems to control and operate the Ulster County Jail, the system operates the doors and locks for the facility, with an average of $45,000 in annual maintenance; and

WHEREAS, the UPS batteries that run the Black Creek System are now failing and need to be replaced as well for a cost of $35,000.00; and

WHEREAS, the approved 2021-2026 Capital Improvement Program includes a project “Black Creek Upgrade” in the amount of $630,000.00 for such project; and

 WHEREAS, based on updated scope of services necessary to implement this project, the total project cost has increased by $472,665.00, resulting in a new project total of $1,102,665.00; and

WHEREAS, the Black Creek upgrade will replace failing equipment and software that is used to control the Ulster County Jail; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, that Capital Project 594 for the Black Creek Upgrade is hereby established as follows:
