Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Eve Walter, and Deputy Chair Heidi Haynes offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office is required by law to provide firearms training and practice for its sworn officers; and

         

WHEREAS, the Ulster Police Firearms Range and Training Facility (the “Facility”), which is maintained by the Town of Ulster and located at Ulster Landing Road in the Town of Ulster, is appropriate for such purpose; and

 

WHEREAS, the Town of Ulster shall make the Facility available to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office to use at no cost to the County; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office requests Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute an agreement and any amendments thereto with the Town of Ulster, providing for the use of the Facility by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office for the term beginning January 1, 2021 and ending December 31, 2021, with the option to renew automatically for an additional calendar year; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute an agreement and any amendments thereto with the Town of Ulster, providing for the use of the Facility by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney in consultation with the Chair of the Legislature and the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee,

 

and move its adoption.
