Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, John Gavaris, and Deputy Chair Kenneth J. Ronk, Jr. offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Information Services; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of Information Services has received notification from the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services regarding the FY2020 Cyber Security Grant; and

 

WHEREAS, the County Executive and the Director of Information requests that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to enter into an agreement, and any amendments thereto, with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services for the contract period from October 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023 in the amount of $50,000.00; and     

 

           WHEREAS, the Department of Information Services is responsible to protect and secure all document assets and file storage environments from ransomware and exfiltration; and

 

          WHEREAS, the Department of Information Services intends to expand its existing Varonis DatAdvantage implementation to protect document and file storage hosted in Microsoft Office 365 environment; and

 

           WHEREAS, on September 29, 2022, NYS DHSES formally awarded a grant of $50,000 to Ulster County; now, therefore be it

          

          RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute an Agreement, and any amendments thereto, with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services for participation in the 2020 Cyber Security Grant Program, in the amount of $50,000.00, as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney, Chair of the Ulster County Legislature, and the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of Ways and Means Committee; and, be it further

 

 

 

 

RESOLVED, that if funding for this program is eliminated, the Commissioner of Finance shall, immediately upon discovery, send written notification to the Clerk of the Legislature, and the relevant Department Head shall attend the next regular meeting of the Ways and Means Committee to assist the Committee in review and evaluation for determination of the program’s continuance,

 

and move its adoption.
