Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, John Gavaris, and Deputy Chair Kenneth J. Ronk, Jr. offer the following:

 

          WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the Acting County Executive on behalf of the Department of Information Services; and

 

           WHEREAS, the Department of Information Services is responsible to protect all IT computer assets (PCs, laptops and servers) from viruses, malware, intrusions etc; and

 

          WHEREAS, the Department of Information Services intends to procure next-generation anti-virus known as Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR); and

 

           WHEREAS, New York State Information Technology Services (NYSITS) and New York State Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (NYS DHSES) has developed an EDR / Joint Security Operations Center (JSOC) shared services offering (EDR/JSOC) using CrowdStrike Falcon EDR; and

 

           WHEREAS, the EDR/JSOC offering is being made available to NYS State, local, tribal and territorial governments (SLTT) at no cost; and

 

           WHEREAS, it is determined to participate in the EDC/JSOC it will be necessary to execute an inter-municipal agreement with NYSITS and NYS DHSES; now, therefore be it

 

           RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is authorized to execute an inter-municipal agreement to make such a purchase; and, be it further

 

          RESOLVED, that the agreement to procure such services shall be in such form as filed with the Clerk of the Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney, and the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee,

 

and move its adoption.
