Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Abe Uchitelle, and Deputy Chair Gina Hansut offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of Ulster County Sheriff; and

WHEREAS, this resolution is requesting funding of an Award for the Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance FY 22 Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Site-based Program (COSSAP) Grant for personnel; and

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 61 of November 2022, accepted the Award for an additional 3 years in the amount of $1,299,960.00; and

WHEREAS, this will create 3 new positions within the Sheriff’s Office, fully funded by the COSSAP grant; two Substance Use Disorder Care Managers and one Director of Community and Incarcerated Services; and

WHEREAS, the reimbursement of one full time Saugerties Police Officer salary will be fully funded by this grant; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the 2023 Ulster County budget is hereby amended as follows:
