Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Abe Uchitelle, and Deputy Chair Gina Hansut offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Probation; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Probation administers the Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP), which aids victims and witnesses of crime; and

 

WHEREAS, the department has received an award notification from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) for the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act Supplemental COVID-19 Funding; and

 

WHEREAS, the funding is a one-time, non-competitive award of $144,670.00 for the period October 1, 2021- September 30, 2024 that is to be awarded in three (3) annual payments beginning in 2022 as follows: 2022 - $48,223; 2023 - $48,223; 2024 - $48,224; and

 

WHEREAS, the funding is allocated to support sexual assault programs in providing additional services to victims due to the escalation of emergency needs as a result of the Covid-19 public health emergency and will allow UC Probation CVAP to increase services by hiring a PT Mental Health Specialist, and purchasing computer software upgrades, program supplies, office equipment, and client supplies; and

 

            WHEREAS, the position of CVAP PT Mental Health Specialist is a position created specifically for the grant period October 1, 2021- September 30, 2024 for which all salary and associated fringe benefits will be fully funded by this grant; and

 

WHEREAS, in order to create a new PT position and reflect the increased program funding an amendment of the 2022 budget is necessary; and now, therefore, be it
