Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Eve Walter, and Deputy Chair Heidi Haynes offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on behalf of the Ulster County Department of Emergency Management / Fire Coordinator; and

 

WHEREAS, Greene and Ulster Counties believe it would be in the best interest of their respective public safety first responders to share resources and training opportunities in the area of technical rescue and response; and

 

WHEREAS, New York Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services (DHSES) has implemented a grant program to develop and regionalize technical rescue teams and encourage multi-county technical rescue teams; and

 

WHEREAS, the Green County Fire Coordinator and the Ulster County Fire Coordinator are jointly responsible for the equitable acquisition, distribution and oversight of equipment and training; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), subject to approval as to form by the County Attorney, for a regional partnership and resource-sharing between Greene and Ulster Counties for the purposes of Technical Rescue Team,

 

and move its adoption.
