Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Eve Walter, and Deputy Chair Heidi Haynes offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Public Works; and

 

WHEREAS, the lease for the substation space used by the Ulster County Sheriff’s Department and located at 1500 Route 208, Wallkill, Town of Shawangunk, New York is set to expire December 31, 2021 and the landlord does not want to renew; and

 

WHEREAS, a new suitable space for the Sheriff’s Office substation was found at 112 Bona Venture Avenue, Wallkill, New York 12589; and

 

WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Works has requested to execute a lease with Wallkill Fire District for a five-year term commencing January 1, 2022 and ending December 31, 2026, at an annual cost of $10,200.00 for the first three years and $10,506.00 for the remaining two years; and

 

WHEREAS, the lease shall contain a clause which will allow the tenant, County of Ulster, the option to terminate the Lease for any or no reason whatsoever upon a sixty (60) day written notice to landlord, Wallkill Fire District; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute a lease agreement and any amendments thereto, with Wallkill Fire District, for 314 square feet of substation space located at 112 Bona Venture Avenue, Wallkill, New York 12589, to be used to house the Ulster County Sheriff’s Department, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified and approved by the County Attorney,

 

and move its adoption.
