Chairman of the Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning, and Transit Committee, Brian B. Cahill, and Deputy Chair Herbert Litts, III offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Information Services; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Information Services procures and manages an extensive communications network to provide data, voice, and video communications to County employees; and

 

WHEREAS, the County, BOCES, school districts, and local municipalities all require network services, including Internet and/or Wide Area Network (WAN) services to provide data, voice and video communications to their employees and/or students; and

 

WHEREAS, combining the network needs of the various entities produces economies of scale thereby allowing for cost and programming efficiencies; and

 

WHEREAS, the County participated in a Mid-Hudson Regional Network Services RFP (RFP #21-18), which combined the network needs of four BOCES organizations, the County, the City of Kingston, and several school districts; and

 

WHEREAS, the RFP resulted in reduced prices for network services for the County; and

 

           WHEREAS, BOCES, acting as lead agency on the RFP, will coordinate services for all parties of the RFP; and

 

WHEREAS, it is determined that purchasing the Internet and network services from BOCES for a five-year term is in the best interest of the County, and it will be necessary to execute an inter-municipal agreement with BOCES; now, therefore, be it

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is authorized to execute an inter-municipal agreement to make such a purchase, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Legislature, or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney, and the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning and Transit Committee,

 

and move its adoption.
