Chairwoman of the Laws and Rules, Governmental Services Committee, Tracey A. Bartels, Deputy Chair Kevin Roberts, and Legislators Gavaris, Heppner, and Ronk offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, the Laws and Rules, Governmental Services Committee is charged with reviewing and maintaining the Rules of the Legislature; and

 

WHEREAS, the last comprehensive review of the Rules of Order of the Ulster County Legislature was conducted almost 8 years ago, resulting in the adoption of Resolution No. 176, dated July 23, 2013; and

 

WHEREAS, the current Laws and Rules, Governmental Services Committee has completed a comprehensive review of the Rules of Order, and has recommended the establishment of new Rules of Order to more effectively operate the policy making branch of government; and

 

WHEREAS, these new Rules of Order were crafted through the Ulster County Legislature’s Committee process, in a bi-partisan, transparent manner; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that upon an affirmative vote of this body subsequent to two consecutive readings, the Rules of Order of the Ulster County Legislature adopted on January 8, 2020 shall be rescinded, and the Rules of Order of the Ulster County Legislature attached hereto shall be the Rules governing this body and its proceedings for the remainder of the year 2021,

 

and moves its adoption.
