Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Eve Walter, and Deputy Chair Heidi Haynes offer the following:

            WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the Ulster County Executive; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section C-77 of the Ulster County Charter and Section A18-1 of the Administrative Code, the Ulster County Public Defender shall devote 100% of his or her full working time to the duties of the office and accordingly should be a full-time position; and

WHEREAS, the salary as stated in the 2020 Ulster County Budget for the position of the Ulster County Public Defender is $89,154.00 because at that time the position was held on a part-time basis; and

WHEREAS, in keeping with the requirements under the Charter and Administrative Code, the position of the Ulster County Public Defender shall be full-time; and

WHEREAS, it is therefore necessary to increase the annual salary of the Public Defender from a part-time position salary of $89,154.00 to a full-time position salary of $120,916.00; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Ulster County Public Defender position will be held on a full-time basis, that the Public Defender shall devote 100% of his or her full working time to the duties of the office, and that the annual salary is hereby increased to $120,916.00; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that the 2020 Ulster County Budget is hereby amended as follows:
