Referred to: The Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee (Chairwoman Walter and Legislators Fabiano, Haynes, Heppner, and Parete), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairwoman Archer and Legislators Bartels, Gavaris, Haynes, Maio, Ronk, and Walter)
Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Eve Walter, and Deputy Chair Heidi Haynes offer the following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the Sheriff’s Office; and
WHEREAS, this resolution is requesting authorization to apply for the Department of Homeland Security Grant-Port Security Grant Program-FEMA to purchase and install an upgraded navigation system to comply with the Coast Guard Maritime requirements; and
WHEREAS, the total program funding is $25,000.00 with an award ceiling of $100,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the approval to apply for this grant will provide the Sheriff’s Office an opportunity to upgrade a navigation system that is 12 years old and outdated to meet Coast Guard standards; and
WHEREAS, the funds will purchase and install a new navigation system for approximately $25,000.00 with 100% reimbursement; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to apply for this grant by May 30, 2020, or risk losing this opportunity; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute the application for the Department of Homeland Security Grant- Port Security Grant Program- FEMA,
and move its adoption.
