Legislators Allen, Bartels, Belfiglio, Briggs, Maio, and Maloney)

Chairman of the Public Works and Capital Projects Committee, Dean J. Fabiano, and

Deputy Chairman Peter M. Loughran offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Department of Public Works; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature has Enacted Local Law No. 3 of

2015; A Local Law Establishing a Sustainable Green Fleet Policy; and

 WHEREAS, said law establishes the policy of the County “to purchase …the

most energy efficient and cost effective vehicles possible…;” and

 

WHEREAS, the law further states “…Ulster County seeks to move toward

zero emission vehicles by promoting the use of electric, hybrid-electric, and

sustainable green vehicles by residents and will do so by: …2. Installing electric

vehicle charging stations at County-owned facilities;” and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to install 6 electric vehicle charging stations to

power these green vehicles; and

 WHEREAS, the Department of the Environment, in consultation with the

Ulster County Department of Public Works in response to a rebate/grant program

issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) for

the 2016 Municipal Zero-emission Vehicle (ZEV) & ZEV Infrastructure Rebate

Program applied for and was awarded rebates totaling $71,258.36 for the installation

of EV charging infrastructure; and
