Referred to: The Public Works and Capital Projects Committee (Chairman Fabiano
and Legislators Greene, Litts, Loughran, and Maloney), The Energy and
Environment Committee (Chairman R. Parete and Legislators Bartels, Heppner,
Lapp, and Wawro), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairman Gerentine and
Legislators Allen, Bartels, Belfiglio, Briggs, Maio, and Maloney)
Chairman of the Public Works and Capital Projects Committee, Dean J. Fabiano, and
Deputy Chairman Peter M. Loughran offer the following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on
behalf of the Department of Public Works; and
WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature has Enacted Local Law No. 3 of
2015; A Local Law Establishing a Sustainable Green Fleet Policy; and
WHEREAS, said law establishes the policy of the County “to purchase …the
most energy efficient and cost effective vehicles possible…;” and
WHEREAS, the law further states “…Ulster County is committed to using
electric, hybrid-electric, hybrid and sustainable green vehicles across the fleet;” and
WHEREAS, the Department of the Environment, in consultation with the
Ulster County Department of Public Works in response to a rebate/grant program
issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) for
the 2016 Municipal Zero-emission Vehicle (ZEV) & ZEV Infrastructure Rebate
Program applied for and was awarded rebates totaling $15,000 for the purchase of
EV vehicles; and
WHEREAS, three qualifying vehicles were purchased; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works requests that the Chairman of
the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to enter into the agreement (DEC01-
T00255GG-3350000), with the New York State Department of Environmental
Conservation (DEC) for the 2016 Municipal Zero-emission Vehicle (ZEV) & ZEV
Infrastructure Reb
RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby
authorized to execute the agreement with the New York State Department of
Conservation (Contract DEC01-T000255GG-3350000), for the purpose of accepting
the rebates totaling $15,000 for the purchase of ZEV vehicles,
and move its adoption.
