Chair of the Public Works, Capital Projects and Transportation Committee, Kathy Nolan, and Deputy Chair Herbert Litts, III offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this Resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 370 dated October 21, 2014, the Ulster County Legislature established a policy for the naming of county-owned assets; and

 

WHEREAS, the County Office Building is a county-owned asset; and 

 

WHEREAS, the people of Ulster County have experienced a significant loss by the passing of Nina Postupack, who served as the Ulster County Clerk from 2005-2024; and

 

WHEREAS, Nina Postupack, began her career of public service in 1979 in the County Clerk’s office and was appointed to Deputy County Clerk of the Recording Department in 1982 and was appointed Chief Deputy Clerk in 1990 until she was appointed as Acting Clerk in 2005 by then Governor George Pataki; and 

 

WHEREAS, in 2006, Nina Postupack made history and became the first woman elected to the office of Ulster County Clerk, and the first woman to be elected to a County-wide office; and

 

WHEREAS, during said public service she performed with dedication, leadership and distinction helping the people of Ulster County; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature in conjunction with the Ulster County Executive believes it is fitting and appropriate to formally honor the memory of Nina A. Postupack; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that a public hearing on renaming the County Office Building the “Nina Postupack Office Building” will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 6:15 PM in the Legislative Chambers, Ulster County Office Building, 6th Floor, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, New York, and/or via videoconference to the extent allowable pursuant to existing New York State legislation, or order and the Rules of the Ulster County Legislature; and, be it further

 

 

 

RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature shall cause a legal notice of said public hearing to be published according to law,

 

and move its adoption.
