Legislators Joseph Maloney and Kevin Roberts offer the following:
WHEREAS, 21 Elizabeth Street located in the City of Kingston, NY is now a county-owned property; and
WHEREAS, the intention was to utilize the existing boarding house to increase the supply of available housing to help meet a critical need in Ulster County; and
WHEREAS, the condition of the premises and the architect and engineering renovation planning services have unveiled unanticipated repairs which have increased the total anticipated costs of the renovation, making continuation of the project no longer in the best interest of the County; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Real Property Tax Law §1166 the County is able to sell 21 Elizabeth Street directly with the approval of the Legislative body; and
WHEREAS, Ulster County upon approval of this resolution shall commence the process of finding a buyer for the direct sale of 21 Elizabeth Street, City of Kingston; and
WHEREAS, upon finding a buyer and agreeing to terms the Legislature will need to approve the sale and property transfer; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Ulster County Legislature authorizes and directs the commencement of the direct sale process for the property located at 21 Elizabeth Street, City of Kingston,
and move its adoption.
