Chairman of the Legislative Programs, Education and Community Services
Committee, David B. Donaldson, and Deputy Chair Heidi Haynes, offer the
following:
WHEREAS, Ulster County has recognized the responsibility to provide
payment for burial and cremation services for indigent veterans; and
WHEREAS, Ulster County acknowledges the immeasurable contributions our
veterans have made; and
WHE
WHEREAS, the County’s Veteran Services Agency desires to apply for
reimbursement from NYSDVA for the expenses of indigent veteran funerals and
burials in an amount not to exceed two thousand dollars per burial; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, that the Ulster County Legislature hereby authorizes the
Director of the Ulster County Veteran Services Agency to apply for reimbursement
from NYSDVA for the expenses of indigent veteran funerals and burials in an
amount not to exceed two thousand dollars per burial, pursuant to Section 148 of the
New York State General Municipal Law; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the Ulster County Legislature hereby authorizes the
Director of the Ulster County Veteran Services Agency to sign all applications,
forms, and other documents required by NYSDVA for reimbursement of claims for
indigent veteran burial,
and move its adoption.
