Referred to: The Legislative Programs, Education and Community Services
Committee (Chairman Donaldson and Legislators Collins, Delaune, Eckert, Haynes,
Wawro and Woltman), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairman Gerentine
and Legislators Archer, Bartels, Lopez, James Maloney, Joseph Maloney, and Petit)
Chairman of the Legislative Programs, Education and Community Services
Committee, David B. Donaldson, and Deputy Chair Heidi Haynes, offer the
following:
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section C-100 of the Ulster County Charter and
Section A30-1(A) of the Administrative Code: “There shall be a Commission of
Human Rights headed by a Commissioner of Human Rights who shall be appointed
by the County Executive, subject to confirmation of the Legislature, and serve at his
or her pleasure,” and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section C-121(A) of the Ulster County Charter and
Section A41-1(A) of the Administrative Code: “There shall be a Youth Bureau
headed by a Director who shall be appointed by the County Executive based on his
or her education, experience and qualifications to perform the duties of the office,
subject to confirmation by the County Legislature, and shall serve at the pleasure of
the County Executive.”; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section C-26(G) of the Ulster County Charter and
Section A3-5(G) of the Administrative Code: “The County Executive may appoint
one person as head of two or more departments or other administrative units or may
serve himself or herself as the head of one or more administrative units or
departments, subject to all requirements in the Charter and/or law as to
qualifications,” and
WHEREAS, the County Executive has appointed Christina Dawson as
Commissioner of the Ulster County Commission on Human Rights and the Director
of the Ulster County Youth Bureau; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, the Ulster County Legislature hereby confirms the appointment
of Christina Dawson as Commissioner of the Ulster County Commission on Human
Rights and the Director of the Ulster County Youth Bureau,
and moves its adoption.
