Referred to: The Legislative Programs, Education and Community Services
Committee (Chairman Donaldson and Legislators Collins, Delaune, Eckert, Haynes,
Wawro and Woltman), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairman Gerentine
and Legislators Archer, Bartels, Lopez, James Maloney, Joseph Maloney, and Petit)
Chairman of the Legislative Programs, Education and Community Services
Committee, David B. Donaldson, and Deputy Chair Heidi Haynes, offer the
following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on
behalf of the Ulster County Office for the Aging; and
WHEREAS, the New York State Office for the Aging has notified Ulster
County that funding for the 2017-2018 Medicare Improvements for Patients and
Providers Act (MIPPA) program is available in the amount of $15,476; and
WHEREAS, the goal of the program is for outreach and assistance with
Medicare Part D beneficiaries in rural areas, and for activities related to the
promotion and distribution of information on Medicare preventive and wellness
services; and
WHEREAS, the term for the MIPPA program year is September 30, 2017
through September 29, 2018; and
WHEREAS, if the County’s application is approved, the funds will be used to
reimburse the County for MIPPA expenditures incurred by the Ulster County Office
for the Aging, including: salaries, benefits, and contractual costs; and,
WHEREAS, reimbursement for County expenditures will be available after
submission by the County and approval by the New York State Office for the Aging
of an application, standard assurances, program narratives and program budget; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Office for the Aging requests the Chairman of
the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute the Medicare Improvements
for Patients and Providers Act Application, with required assurances, and any
amendments thereto; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby
authorized to execute the application with required assurances, and any amendments
thereto, with the New York State Office for the Aging for the Medicare
Improvements for Patients and Providers Act program, for the term beginning
September 30, 2017 through September 29, 2018 in the form as filed with the Clerk
of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County
Attorney,
and move its adoption.
