Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Thomas J. Briggs,

and Deputy Chairman Ronald G. Lapp, Jr. offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Ulster County District Attorney; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County District Attorney has been notified that Ulster

County has been awarded additional funding through the Intimate Partner Violence

Initiative in the amount of $60,000 from the New York State Division of Criminal

Justice Services for the creation of a new part time investigator position; and

WHEREAS, the funds will be utilized to create and fill a District Attorney

Investigator part time, benefitted position with a salary of $45,675 per year, for the

period of January 1, 2018 through February 28, 2019; and

WHEREAS, the Investigator will investigate reports of intimate partner

violence and coordinate the reporting and responses of local police departments; and

WHEREAS, the District Attorney requests the Chairman of the Ulster County

Legislature be authorized to enter into an agreement with the New York State

Division of Criminal Justice Services in order to accept the funding from the Intimate

Partner Violence Initiative; and

WHEREAS, The District Attorney requests that the Ulster County Budget be

amended accordingly; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to execute an agreement, and any amendments thereto, with the New York

State Division of Criminal Justice Services for funding of this position, for the period

commencing December 1, 2017 and ending February 28, 2019, in the form as filed

with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of

the County Attorney in consultation with the Chairman of the Legislature and the

Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety

Committee; and, be it further 

 

RESOLVED, that the 2018 Ulster County Budget is amended as follows:
