Roberts and Legislators Belfiglio, Donaldson, Lopez, Loughran, R. Parete and

Chairman Kenneth J. Ronk, Jr. offers the following:
WHEREAS, many Ulster County and New York State elected officials have
advocated for passage of State legislation which would grant the Ulster County
Sheriff the authority to act as an additional pistol permit licensing officer in Ulster
County; and
WHEREAS, the amount of time it takes to properly review and process
licenses creates an extensive wait time for Ulster County residents that can be
alleviated with commonsense legislation of this nature; and
WHEREAS, such legislation has been introduced as Senate Bill No. S01032
and Assembly Bill No. A01267 so that a formal Home Rule Request is now
appropriate; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the County Executive and the Clerk of the Ulster County
Legislature be authorized to execute and submit a Home Rule Request (Request by a
Local Government for Enactment of a Special Law), pursuant to Article IX of the
Constitution, requesting the enactment of Senate Bill No. S01032 and Assembly Bill
No. A01267 entitled “Authorizes the Ulster county sheriff to serve as an additional
firearms licensing officer”,
and move its adoption.
