Referred to: The Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee (Chairman Briggs
and Legislators Fabiano, Lapp, Maio, and Rodriguez), and The Ways and Means
Committee (Chairman Gerentine and Legislators Allen, Bartels, Belfiglio, Briggs,
Maio, and Maloney)
Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Thomas J. Briggs,
and Deputy Chairman Ronald G. Lapp, Jr. offer the following:
WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff does not have the required facilities to
house a psychiatric inmate; and
WHEREAS, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office has the capacity to house
psychiatric inmates at the Central New York Psychiatric Center; and
WHEREAS, Oneida County has indicated it will charge Ulster County One
Hundred Eighty-Five Dollars ($185.00) per inmate per day for inmates boarded out
to the Central New York Psychiatric Center Forensic Unit; and
WHEREAS, the term of the agreement is from January 1, 2017 and through
December 31, 2019; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby
authorized to enter into an Agreement, and any amendments thereto, with Oneida
County for security of Ulster County inmates boarded out to the Central New York
Psychiatric Center at a cost of $185.00 per inmate per day for a term beginning on
January 1, 2017 and ending December 31, 2019, in the form as filed with the Clerk of
the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County
Attorney, in consultation with the Chairman of the Legislature and the Chairman and
Deputy Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee,
and move its adoption.
