Committee (Chairman David Donaldson and Legislators Archer, Gregorius, Lopez,
and Wawro), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairman Gerentine and
Legislators Bartels, Belfiglio, Briggs, Maio, Maloney, Provenzano, and Rodriguez)
Legislator Kevin A. Roberts and Legislators Archer, Donaldson, Gregorius, Lopez,
Rodriguez and Wawro offer the following:
WHEREAS, Veterans have bravely served our country; and
WHEREAS, our Veterans made great sacrifices during their military service;
and
WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature appreciates what our Veterans
have done for our country and seeks ways in which to honor them; and
WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature recognizes that giving back is one
way in which to show our appreciation to our Veterans; and
WHEREAS, Ulster County provides public transportation throughout the
County through the Ulster County Area Transit (UCAT); and
WHEREAS, UCAT is available to everyone, including Veterans; and
WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature deems that providing discounted
transportation to Veterans is an appropriate way in which to give back to our
veterans; now, it therefore be
RESOLVED, that any honorably discharged member of the armed forces of
the United States shall pay a discounted fare between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00
p.m., and such discount shall be fifty percent (50%) of the full fare for the service
provided upon the presentation of an Ulster County Veterans identification card or an
official United States military identification card,
and move its adoption.
