Referred to: The Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning, and Transit
Committee (Chairman Briggs and Legislators Allen, Archer, Litts, Maio, Maloney
and Wishnick), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairman Gerentine and
Legislators Bartels, Belfiglio, Briggs, Maio, Maloney, Provenzano, and Rodriguez)
Chairman of the Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning, and Transit
Committee, Thomas J. Briggs, and Deputy Chairman James F. Maloney offer the
following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on
behalf of the Department of Public Transportation; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to reduce highway congestion and reduce the
number of single occupancy vehicles on the roads; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 218, July 9, 2008, the Chairman of
the Ulster County Legislature executed a three-year agreement ending November 30,
2011 with the Town of New Paltz, to provide public transit service between the
Town of New Paltz, the Village of New Paltz, and the State University of New York
at New Paltz (the “New Paltz LOOP”); and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 229, October 18, 2011, the Chairman
of the Ulster County Legislature executed a three-year agreement ending November
30, 2014 with the Town of New Paltz, to continue to provide the New Paltz LOOP
service; and
WHEREAS, operating funds have been approved in the 2014 Ulster County
Budget to continue such services for the period ending December 31, 2014; and
WHEREAS, the Ulster County Director of Public Transportation is requesting
the execution of a three-year contract with the Town of New Paltz to continue the
New Paltz LOOP public transit service for the term December 1, 2014 to November
30, 2016 at an estimated operating cost of $101,270.00 annually; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby
authorized to execute an agreement, and any amendments thereto, with the Town of
New Paltz, for the term December 1, 2014 to November 30, 2016, to provide public
transit service between the Town of New Paltz, the Village of New Paltz, and the
State University of New York at New Paltz; and be it further

Authorizing The Chairman Of The Ulster County Legislature To
Execute An Agreement With The Town Of New Paltz To Provide
Public Transit Service (New Paltz LOOP) – Department Of Public
Transportation (Ulster County Area Transit)
RESOLVED, that this service will continue contingent upon the availability of
local operating funds from the Town of New Paltz and adequate bus fares,
and move its adoption.
