Referred to: The Public Works, Capital Projects and Transportation Committee (Chair Nolan and Legislators Donaldson, Kovacs, Litts, and McCollough), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairman Gavaris and Legislators Collins, Hansut, Kovacs, Nolan, Roberts, and Uchitelle)
Legislator Greg McCollough offers the following:
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 370 dated October 21, 2014, the Ulster County Legislature established a policy for the naming of county-owned assets; and
WHEREAS, the 2nd Floor of the County Office Building, where the Ulster County Clerk’s Office is located, is a county-owned asset; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the policy for naming of county-owned assets, a public hearing was held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 6:40 PM in the Legislative Chambers, Ulster County Office Building, 6th Floor, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, New York, to ensure public input on the matter was considered; and
WHEREAS, the people of Ulster County have experienced a significant loss by the passing of Nina Postupack, who served as the Ulster County Clerk from 2005-2024; and
WHEREAS, in 2006, Nina Postupack made history and became the first woman elected to the office of Ulster County Clerk, and the first woman to be elected to a County-wide office; and
WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature believes it is fitting and appropriate to formally honor the memory of Nina A. Postupack; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the 2nd Floor of the County Office Building shall be dedicated as, “The Ulster County Clerk’s Office and Nina Postupack Historical Center,”
and move its adoption.
