Chairman of the Laws, Rules and Government Services Committee, Jason Kovacs, and Deputy Chair Aaron Levine offer the following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Board of Elections; and
WHEREAS, the Ulster County Board of Elections received a Ballot by Mail Grant in the amount of $83,089.00 to cover the expense of printing, processing and mailing Absentee and Early Vote by Mail Ballots; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Board of Elections will administer this grant and the term of this grant program will be 04/01/2024 to 03/31/2025; and
WHEREAS, in 2024 the Ulster County Board of Elections has incurred expenses to purchase prepaid envelopes, postage, ballot printing, and retain temporary employees to assist with the processing of these Early Vote by Mail and Absentee ballots during a busy Presidential Election year; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to sign a grant agreement in the amount of $83,089.00 with the NYS Board of Elections to obtain Ballot by Mail Grant Program funds to offset eligible expenses, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature, or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,
and moves its adoption.
