Referred to: The Public Works, Capital Projects and Transportation Committee (Chair Nolan and Legislators Donaldson, Kovacs, Litts, and McCollough)
Chair of the Public Works, Capital Projects and Transportation Committee, Kathy Nolan, and Deputy Chair Herbert Litts, III offer the following:
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 370 dated October 21, 2014, the Ulster County Legislature established a policy for the naming of county-owned assets; and
WHEREAS, part of County Road 5, partially located in the Town of Hurley, is a county-owned asset; and
WHEREAS, on March 26, 2024, the Town Board of the Town of Hurley unanimously adopted Resolution 2024-26, supporting the County of Ulster’s intention to dedicate the above-referenced road in honor of Gold Star Families; and
WHEREAS, a Gold Star Family should be honored and remembered for the sacrifices made for the nation; and
WHEREAS, this is an opportunity to pay homage to the County residents who lost an immediate family member in service to their nation during a time of conflict; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that a public hearing will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 7:20 PM in the Legislative Chambers, Ulster County Office Building, 6th Floor, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, New York on naming part of County Road 5, partially located in the Town of Hurley, the “Ulster County Gold Star Family Memorial Highway;” and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature shall cause a legal notice of said public hearing to be published according to law,
and move its adoption.
