Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Lynn Eckert, and Deputy Chair Kenneth Ronk, Jr. offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the Ulster County Sheriff; and

           

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff requests that the Ulster County Legislature accept the Department of Homeland Security Preparedness – Port Security Grant to cover 75% reimbursement for the purchase of a new boat needed for the Sheriff’s Office Navigation Division from the Port Security Grant Program CFDA Number 97.056 in the amount of $350,691.00; and

 

WHEREAS, the remaining expense, $116,897.00, will be reimbursed up to 50% by the Navigation grant, which the Sheriff’s Department requests annually, leaving the County to cover $58,448.00 of the $467,588.00 total purchase price; and

 

WHEREAS, the application for this Grant No. EMW-2019-PU-00168 was approved through Resolution No. 192 of 2019; and

 

WHEREAS, the approval to accept the funds for this grant will provide the Sheriff’s Office an opportunity to alleviate most of the cost in replacing a boat for the Navigation division; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute an acceptance of the Port Security Preparedness Grant from the Department of Homeland Security in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney in consultation with the Chairman of the Legislature and the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee,
