Petit)
Chairman of the Public Works and Capital Projects Committee, Dean J. Fabiano,
offers the following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on
behalf of the Department of Public Works; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 315 dated August 18, 2015, the
County entered into a lease agreement with Ulster Savings Bank, 180 Schwenk
Drive, Kingston, NY, for offices of the County’s Public Defender at the premises
located at 280 Wall Street, Kingston, NY, for a five-year term beginning October 1,
2015 and ending September 30, 2020; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 309 dated July 17, 2018 previously amended the
lease to add 338 square feet at the cost of $14.00 per square foot; and
WHEREAS, additional space has become available at 280 Wall Street,
Kingston, NY, adjacent to the Public Defender’s current office space; and
WHEREAS, the Public Defender has expressed a need for additional space to
continue his operations; and
WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Works has requested the Chairman
of the Ulster County Legislature to amend the current lease agreement with Ulster
Savings Bank to lease an additional 430 square feet of office space until the end of
the lease term at an annual cost of $14.00/square foot, totaling $6,020.00 annually;
and
WHEREAS, both lease amendments will account for an additional 768 square
feet and
RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby
authorized to execute a lease amendment, with Ulster Saving Bank, 180 Schwenk
Drive, Kingston NY, for offices of the Public Defender at the premises located at 280
Wall Street, Kingston, NY, for a term beginning November 1, 2018 and ending
September 30, 2020, at an annual cost of $6,020.00 and an adjusted annual lease cost
of $67,452.00, as filed with the Clerk of the Legislature or as modified with the
approval of the County Attorney,
and move its adoption.
