Chairman of the Public Works and Capital Projects Committee, Dean J. Fabiano, and

Deputy Chair Manna Jo Greene offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Public Defender Office has been seeking more

efficient and viable office space in the City of Kingston uptown area; and

WHEREAS, the Public Defender currently leases 4,050 square feet of office

space on the second floor of Ulster Savings Bank, 280 Wall Street, Kingston, NY at a

cost of $14.00 per square foot or $56,700.00 annually, with all utilities and taxes

included; and

WHEREAS, an additional 338 square feet of office space has become

available at Ulster Savings Bank, 280 Wall Street, Kingston, NY at a cost of $14.00

per square foot; and

 WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Works has requested the Chairman

of the Ulster County Legislature to enter into a lease agreement with Ulster Savings

Bank, for a term commencing July 15, 2018 through September 30, 2020, at a cost of

$4,732.00 annually for the additional space; and

 WHEREAS, the new annual leasing costs with all utilities and taxes included

will be $61,432.00; and

 WHEREAS, in any event the Tenant, County of Ulster, shall have the option

to terminate the Lease for any or no reason whatsoever upon a sixty (60) day written

notice to Landlord, Ulster Savings Bank; now, therefore be it

 RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to enter into a lease agreement with Ulster Savings Bank for offices of the

Public Defender on the second floor of 280 Wall Street, Kingston, N.Y. for a term

commencing July 15, 2018 through September 30, 2020 at an annual additional cost

of $4,732.00, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or

as modified with the approval of the County Attorney, 

 

and move its adoption.
