Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Thomas J. Briggs,

and Deputy Chairman Ronald G. Lapp, Jr. offer the following:

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office is required by law to provide

firearms training and practice for its sworn officers, and

 WHEREAS, the facility maintained by the Town of Ulster is appropriate for

such purpose, and

 WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff requests that the Chairman of the

Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute an agreement, and any

amendments thereto, with the Town of Ulster for the term January 1, 2017 through

December 31, 2017, with additional to renew automatically, providing for the use, by

the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, of the Ulster Police Firearms Range and Training

Facility (the “Facility”), located at Ulster Landing Road in the Town of Ulster, and

WHEREAS, use of the Facility shall be made available at no cost to the

County, now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to execute an agreement, and any amendments thereto, with the Town of

Ulster, allowing the Ulster County Sheriff’s sworn officers to use its Facility for the

term January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the

Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney in

consultation with the Chairman of the Legislature and the Chairman and Deputy

Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee,

and move its adoption.
