Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Thomas J. Briggs,

and Deputy Chairman Ronald G. Lapp, Jr. offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Department of Probation; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Probation has requested that the Chairman of the

Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute contract C523961 (Pretrial

Services - $13,520.52), (Community Services- $37,250.36) and Defender Based

Advocate ($10,997.88) which provides funding for two of the County’s Alternatives

to Incarceration programs operated by the Probation Department and the Defender

Based Advocate and Conflict Defender Based Advocate program operated by the

Public Defender’s Office, with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice

Services; and

WHEREAS, the initial terms of the contracts are July 1, 2017 through June

30, 2018, and there are four successive one year renewal terms; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to execute contracts, and any amendments thereto, with the New York

State Division of Criminal Justice Services for two of the County’s Alternatives to

Incarceration Programs: Pretrial Release and Community Services and for the

Defender Based Advocate and the Conflict Defender Based Advocate program for

the initial terms July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018, with successive one year

renewal terms, as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified

with the approval of the County Attorney in consultation with the Chairman of the

Legislature and the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Law Enforcement and

Public Safety Committee,

and move its adoption.
