Referred to: The Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee (Chairman Briggs

Maio, and Maloney), and The Laws and Rules, Governmental Services Committee
(Chairman Roberts and Legislators Belfiglio, Donaldson, Lopez, Loughran, R. Parete
and Rodriguez)
Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Thomas J. Briggs,
and Deputy Chairman Ronald G. Lapp, Jr. offer the following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on
behalf of the Ulster County District Attorney; and
WHEREAS, the Ulster County District Attorney has been notified that he has
been awarded funding through the Intimate Partner Violence Initiative from the New
York State Division of Criminal Justice Services for the creation of a Director of
Projects position; and
WHEREAS, the funds will be utilized to create and fill a Director of Projects
fulltime, benefitted position with a salary of $60,000.00 per year, for the period of
March 6, 2017 through March 5, 2019; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Projects will coordinate the operational
management of all aspects of the Intimate Partner Violence Initiative with various
components including managing and maintaining a relationship and communication
with stakeholders, government officials, community groups and project partners; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Projects will establish and manage program goals,
initiatives, objectives, policies and protocols and work to create solutions for
program related challenges; and
WHEREAS, the District Attorney requests the Chairman of the Ulster County
Legislature be authorized to enter into an agreement with the New York State
Division of Criminal Justice Services in order to accept the funding from the Intimate
Partner Violence Initiative.
WHEREAS, The District Attorney requests that the Ulster County Budget be
amended accordingly; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby
authorized to execute an agreement, and any amendments thereto, with the New York
State Division of Criminal Justice Services for funding of this position, for the period
commencing March 6, 2017 and ending March 5, 2019, in the form as filed with the
Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the
County Attorney, Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature, and the Chairman and
Deputy Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee; and be it
further
RESOLVED, that the 2017 Ulster County Budget is amended as follows:
