Chairman of the Public Works and Capital Projects Committee, Dean J. Fabiano, and

Deputy Chairman Peter M. Loughran offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Ulster County Sheriff and the Department of Public Works; and

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 382 dated October 20, 2015, authorized the

Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature to enter into a lease agreement with

Wallkill Body Shop and Glass, Inc. for use as an Ulster County Sheriff’s Office substation (hereinafter the “Wallkill Sub-Station”) for office space located at 3063 Route

208 Wallkill, New York for a two year term commencing on January 1, 2016 and

ending on December 31, 2017 at an annual cost of $6,600, to include all utilities; and

WHEREAS, the present lease for the Wallkill Sub-Station consists of fourhundred fifty (450) square feet at a cost of $14.67 per square foot; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office has identified rentable space

at 1500 NYS Route 208, Wallkill, New York with seven hundred eleven (711) square

feet at $12.66 per square foot, which better suits headquarter needs for the Wallkill

Sub-Station to continue providing patrol services and crime prevention activities; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff has requested the current lease be

terminated and that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to

execute a new lease agreement with 1500 NYS Route 208, LLC, for the use of the

office space for the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office in Wallkill; and

WHEREAS, said lease will be for a term of five years commencing January 1,

2017 and ending December 31, 2021, at an annual rent of $9,000.00 for the term of

the lease, with the cost of all utilities included in the aforementioned annual amount;

and

WHEREAS, in any event the tenant, the County of Ulster, shall have the

option to terminate the lease for any reason or for no reason, upon sixty (60) days

written notice to the landlord, and, now, therefore, be it 

 

RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to enter into a lease agreement with 1500 NYS Route 208, LLC, for office

space for a substation of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office located at 1500 Route

208, Wallkill, New York, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County

Legislature or as modified and approved by the County Attorney,

and move its adoption.
