Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Thomas J. Briggs,

and Deputy Chairman Ronald G. Lapp, Jr. offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Department of Probation; and

WHEREAS, the Probation Director has requested that the Chairman of the

Ulster County Legislature be authorized to sign a contract (DOH01-C30926GG3450000) with the New York State Department of Health for the purpose of the

Enough is Enough State Law initiatives for multi-year contract period May 1, 2016

through April 30, 2018; and

WHEREAS, the Enough is Enough Campaign requires institutions of higher

education to work closely with local sexual assault programs to prevent and respond

to sexual assault on campuses and provide services to victims of sexual assault at

colleges in Ulster County; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Probation administers the Crime Victim

Assistance Program which aid victims and witnesses of crime; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Probation has been awarded funding in the

amount of $61,224.00 annually which will provide funding for a Probation Officer

position to support the Enough is Enough programs’ efforts providing prevention,

education and direct victim services; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Personnel Officer has reviewed the request

and has by order and determination, deemed the classification of Probation Officer

(CSEA – grade 15) and allocates as such to the competitive class of the classified

civil s

 

RESOLVED, that the 2016 Ulster County Budget is hereby amended as

follows:

RESOLVED, that if funding for this service is inadequate or discontinued,

then the service and/or positions will be eliminated as well,

and moves its adoption.
