Chairman of the Public Health and Social Services Committee, Craig V. Lopez, and

Deputy Chairman Jeanette Provenzano offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Department of Health; and

WHEREAS, the United States Geological Survey operates and maintains the

gauging station on the Esopus Creek in Mount Marion, New York, which provides

flood plain elevation data in the lower Esopus Creek Basin; and

WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Health requests that the Chairman of the

Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute a five year agreement (Agreement

# 16ENNY24570009), and any amendments thereto, with the United States

Department of the Interior, United States Geological Survey, to continue the Joint

Funding Agreement, wherein Ulster County will contribute $51,710.00, toward the

program's costs, for the period October 1, 2015 through September 30, 2020; and

WHEREAS, the program's funds will enable the United States Geological

Survey to continue to operate and maintain the gauging station on the Esopus Creek

in Mount Marion, New York, which provides flood plain elevation data in the lower

Esopus Creek Basin; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to execute a five year agreement (Agreement # 16ENNY24570009), and

any amendments thereto, with the United States Department of the Interior, United

States Geological Survey, in the amount of $51,710.00, to continue the operation of

the Esopus Creek gauging station, for the period October 1, 2015 through September

30, 2020, in a form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as

modified with the approval of the County Attorney,

and move its adoption.
