Chairman of the Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning, and Transit

Committee, Thomas J. Briggs, and Deputy Chairman James F. Maloney offer the

following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Ulster County Department of Public Transportation; and

WHEREAS, The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT)

has been designated by the Governor of the State of New York to administer Section

5310 Federal funds and all Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO’s) in

urbanized areas agreed to have NYSDOT administer the 5310 funds; and

WHEREAS, Ulster County Area Transit is applying for a contract with the

NYSDOT for an ADA-Compliant Vehicle and Annual Operating Assistance (the

“Project”) for FTA Section 5310 funds to implement eligible 5310 project(s) in

Ulster County; and

WHEREAS, the total Project cost is $298,000 over a three year period

(purchase price of ADA-Compliant vehicle is $58,000, annual operating costs are

$80,000) and Ulster County Area Transit is applying for a Federal reimbursement

share in the amount of up to $166,400.00 (80% of vehicle cost or $46,400; and 50%

of operating costs or $120,000); and

WHEREAS, the application requires the signature of the Chief Elected

Officer; and

WHEREAS, Ulster County Area Transit has fulfilled the FTA coordinated

plan requirements that the project is included in the project area Coordinated Plan;

now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Ulster County Executive is authorized to file a 5310

application, and execute any necessary contracts, or amendments thereto, as a result

of the 5310 application, and implement any 5310 project(s) awarded to Ulster

County,

 

 

and move its adoption.
