Referred to: The Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee (Chairwoman Hansut and Legislators Hewitt, Maloney, McCollough and Walls), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairman Gavaris and Legislators Collins, Hansut, Kovacs, Nolan, and Roberts)
Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Gina Hansut, and Deputy Chair Chris Hewitt offer the following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the Ulster County Sheriff; and
WHEREAS, patrol boats are used in critical rescue services provided by law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Office utilized grant funding in 2019 to purchase a new patrol boat in 2022; and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff’s Office is still in possession of, and no longer in need of, its previous patrol boat; and
WHEREAS, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office is in need of a patrol boat for law enforcement activities on the Hudson River; and
WHEREAS, it is in interest of Ulster County that neighboring counties be able to execute rescue operations that may necessitate a river worthy patrol boat; and
WHEREAS, the Ulster County Fleet Manager has determined that the 1998 Patriot Marine vessel is valued at $10,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the Greene County Sheriff wishes to purchase the 1998 Patriot Marine vessel; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to sign documents required to execute the sale of the 1998 Patriot Marine vessel to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,
and move its adoption.
