Legislators John Parete and Craig Lopez offer the following:

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature finds that every disabled person

should have every opportunity to be employed, including being self employed; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature finds that every veteran of the

United States Military should have every opportunity to be employed, including

being self employed; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature recognizes the importance of

supporting and promoting the disabled and veterans communities; and

WHEREAS, Ulster County owns and leases buildings throughout the County;

and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature finds that one way in which that

Ulster County can support and support disabled persons and veterans is to allow them

to rent space in County owned or leased buildings where it is appropriate for the

purpose of selling goods and services; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislatures finds that it is important to

promote businesses owned by disabled persons and veterans; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislatures finds that having information

kiosks providing information about and promoting businesses owned by disabled

persons and veterans in County owned and leased buildings is another away to

support the disabled and veterans community; and

WHEREAS, the County Executive is responsible for the management of

County owned and leased buildings and therefore is best able to determine which

County owned or leased buildings have the space and are most advantageous to have

businesses owned by disabled persons and/or veterans; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, it is the policy of Ulster County that space in County owned or

leased buildings be made available for lease to disabled persons and veterans of the

United States Military for businesses that offer goods and services; and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, the buildings and which space shall be made available for

leasing pursuant to this Resolution is to be determined by the County Executive and

as the County Executive deems such buildings and space suitable and appropriate for

the purposes of this Resolution; and, be it further

RESOLVED, where appropriate and deemed accordingly by the County

Executive, kiosks shall be installed in County owned and leased buildings that will

provide information and promote businesses owned by disabled persons and veterans

of the United States Military; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that this policy shall go into effect at such time when Local Law

No. 16 of 2015 goes into effect,

and move its adoption.
