Legislator Jeanette Provenzano and Legislators Gregorius, Lopez and Ronk offer the

following:

 WHEREAS, Ulster County has recognized the responsibility to provide

payment for burial and cremation services for indigent Veterans; and

WHEREAS, the Policy for Veteran’s Burial was set in Resolution No. 97 on

April 9, 1981 and amended in Resolution No. 311 on October 15, 1981, Resolution

331 on October 11, 1984, Resolution 346 on December 4, 1997, and Resolution No.

101 on April 20, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Ulster County acknowledges the immeasurable contributions our

Veterans have made; and

WHEREAS, the current schedule for reimbursement establishes different

reimbursement amounts for burial and direct or full cremation services; and

WHEREAS, direct cremation will stay the same; however, the equal

reimbursement rate for burial and full cremation services of interment is a more

equitable policy; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Ulster County Legislature hereby approves and adopts

the amendment as attached in Schedule A to the Ulster County Indigent Veteran

Burial Policy to reflect reimbursement rates that are equal for burial and full

cremation services of interment,

and move its adoption.

Legislator Provenzano motioned, seconded by Legislator Ronk, to replace the

original Schedule A with the revised Schedule A attached.
