Members of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Legislators Maio

and Ronk, offer the following:

WHEREAS, Ulster County does not have the required facilities to house a

psychiatric inmate; and

WHEREAS, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office has the capacity to house

psychiatric inmates at the Central New York Psychiatric Center Forensic Unit; and

WHEREAS, Oneida County has indicated it will charge Ulster County One

Hundred Sixty-Five Dollars ($165.00) per day, per inmate for inmates boarded out to

the Central New York Psychiatric Center Forensic Unit; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff requests that the Chairman of the

Legislature enter into an agreement with Oneida County for the boarding out of

inmates with psychiatric problems for the term beginning January 1, 2014 and

ending December 31, 2016; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to execute an agreement, and any amendments thereto, with Oneida

County for the security of Ulster County inmates boarded out to the Central New

York Psychiatric Center Forensic Unit at a cost of $165. 00 per day, per inmate for

the period January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2016, in the form as filed with the

Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature, or as modified with the approval of the

County Attorney,

and moves its adoption.
