Chairman of the Laws and Rules, Governmental Services Committee, Richard A.

Parete, and Deputy Chairman Kevin A. Roberts offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this Resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Board of Elections; and

 WHEREAS, in order for Ulster County to be compliant with the requirements

of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) it was necessary for the Board of Elections to

purchase various items to implement, install, store and maintain the new optical

scanning voting systems and associated equipment required by HAVA; and

WHEREAS, the costs associated with these additional items (SHOEBOX

items) may be reimbursed from the County’s remaining HAVA funds through the

New York State Board of Elections; and

WHEREAS, the Commissioners of the Ulster County Board of Elections have

requested that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to

execute a contract (NYS Contract No.C003250), and any amendments thereto, with

the New York State Board of Elections, for the period April 1, 2004 through March

31, 2014, to receive HAVA SHOEBOX items reimbursement in an amount up to

$139,144.58; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to execute a contract (NYS Contract No.C003250), and any amendments

thereto, with the New York State Board of Elections, for the period April 1, 2004

through March 31, 2014, to receive HAVA SHOEBOX items reimbursement in an

amount up to $139,144.58;

 

and move its adoption.
