Legislators Richard A. Gerentine, Donald J. Gregorius, and Kenneth Ronk offer the

following:

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature requested State legislation

allowing the County to continue the additional sales and compensating use tax rate of

1% (one percent) for an additional twenty-two months, from February 1, 2014 to

November 30, 2015, and

WHEREAS, such legislation has now been introduced as Senate Bill No.

S6296 and Assembly Bill No. A7949-B so that a formal Home Rule Request is now

appropriate, and

RESOLVED, that the County Executive and the Clerk of the Ulster County

Legislature be authorized to execute and submit a Home Rule Request (Request by a

Local Government for Enactment of a Special Law), pursuant to Article IX of the

Constitution, requesting the enactment of Senate Bill No. S6296 and Assembly Bill

No. A7949-B entitled “An act to amend the tax law and Chapter 200 of the laws of

2002 amending the tax law relating to certain tax rates imposed by the County of

Ulster, to impose an additional 1% sales and compensating use tax,”

and move its adoption.
