David B. Donaldson and Deputy Chairman Mary Wawro offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Office for the Aging; and

WHEREAS, since the Social Security Administration (SSA) closed its Kingston

office it has maintained a “contact station” located within the Ulster County Office for

the Aging; and

WHEREAS, the “contact station” was a temporary measure which was

scheduled to be open for a three month period in order to transition and refer Ulster

County residents to the Social Security Office in Poughkeepsie; and

WHEREAS, the SSA intends to close the “contact station” by year’s end; and

WHEREAS, in order to provide County residents with a local and convenient

SSA presence, the County has negotiated the installation of a video terminal at the

Office for the Aging which will be available to the public and will connect users with a

remote Social Security representative, as part of the Video Service Delivery Project;

now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to execute a memorandum of agreement, and any amendments thereto,

with the Social Security Administration for participation in the Video Service

Delivery project, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature

or as modified and approved by the County Attorney,

and moves its adoption.
