Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Thomas J. Briggs,

and Deputy Chairman Kenneth J. Ronk offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Department of Probation, Ulster County STOP-DWI Program; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Ulster County Department of Probation has been

notified of a grant award from the New York State STOP DWI Foundation in the

amount of $41,536.00 for the period October 1, 2014 through September 30, 2015;

and

WHEREAS, these funds will be used for the STOP-DWI Crackdowns High

Visibility Enforcement Program (the “Program”) to allow Ulster County STOP-DWI

to offset the costs of administering the Program by the various police agencies

participating in the Program; and

WHEREAS, the services provided by the police agencies are of great value in

Ulster County’s effort to reduce the incidents of drunk and drugged driving; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary for Ulster County to enter into certain intermunicipal agreements to permit Ulster County to engage in the activities of the

Program; and

WHEREAS, it is anticipated that $10,384.00 of the grant funds will be utilized

in 2014 and therefore a modification to the 2014 Ulster County Budget is necessary;

now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to execute any and all inter-municipal agreements, and any amendments

thereto, with the various municipal police agencies participating in the STOP-DWICrackdowns High Visibility Enforcement Program, in the form as filed with the

Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the

County Attorney and Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that the 2014 Ulster County Budget is hereby amended as

follows:

and move its adoption.
