Committee (Chairman Gerentine and Legislators Bartels, Belfiglio, Briggs, Maio,

Maloney, Provenzano, and Rodriguez)

Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Thomas J. Briggs,

and Deputy Chairman Kenneth J. Ronk offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Department of Probation; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Probation administers the Crime Victim

Assistance Program which aid victims and witnesses of crime; and

WHEREAS, as part of the Crime Victim Assistance Program, Crime Victim

Assistance Counselors interact with and help individuals who have been affected by

crime through a difficult period of time; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Probation has been awarded a grant which

provides funding for the creation

and be it further,

RESOLVED, that if federal and state funding under the Victim and Witness

Assistance Grant Program is eliminated, the position will be eliminated as well,

and move its adoption.
